Privacy Policy for Kyoko
Last Updated: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Kyoko ("the Bot") collects, uses, and protects your data when you interact with it in any Discord server or via Direct Messages. By using the Bot, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
To provide its economy, XP, and AI features, the Bot must collect and store certain specific pieces of information from Discord:
Identifiers
We collect your Discord User ID, Discord Username, and the Guild (Server) IDs where you interact with the Bot.
Text Interactions
When you use specific AI commands (such as
!ask, !chat, !truth
), the Bot temporarily collects the text of
your prompt to generate a response.
Voice Activity Data
The Bot tracks your presence in voice channels (join/leave times) to calculate and award virtual Experience Points (XP).
Audio Data (Explicit Command Only)
When explicitly instructed via the !listen command,
the Bot captures raw PCM audio data from the voice channel to perform
Speech-to-Text (STT) transcription.
2. How We Use Your Information
The data collected is used strictly to operate and maintain the Bot's features:
Economy and Progression
User IDs and Guild IDs are used to link you to your virtual bank balance, inventory items, and XP levels.
AI Context Generation
Text prompts are processed through AI models. A brief history of recent interactions and dynamically generated "personality traits" are stored to allow the AI to maintain conversational context and memory.
Voice Processing
Audio captured via the !listen command is actively
transcribed to allow the Bot to respond to spoken prompts.
3. Data Storage and Retention
We are committed to minimizing the data we hold and keeping it secure:
Local Storage
Economy, XP, and AI conversational context data are stored locally in SQLite databases and JSON files on the Bot's host server.
Audio Data
Voice recordings are never permanently saved. Audio data is held in a temporary buffer, processed into text, and immediately deleted.
Context Deletion
AI conversational memory is temporary. It will naturally overwrite
itself over time, or you can force-delete it immediately using the
clear_memory slash command.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. However, your data may be shared with specific third-party services required to run the Bot:
Discord API
Data is processed through Discord's official API in accordance with Discord's Developer Terms of Service.
Local AI Processing
All AI text generation and voice processing (Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech) are handled entirely locally on the Bot's host machine. Your text prompts and audio data are never transmitted to external third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI or Anthropic).
5. Your Rights and Data Control
You have full control over your data and how the Bot interacts with you:
Memory Clearing
You can permanently delete your AI conversational history and assigned
traits from our database at any time by running the
clear_memory slash command.
Opting Out
If you no longer wish for the Bot to collect your data, you must stop interacting with it. Server administrators can remove the Bot from their server to stop all data collection for that Guild.
Data Deletion Requests
You may request a complete deletion of all your user data, including economy and XP balances, by contacting the developer directly.
